Recirculating Water Tunnel
WhatsApp%20Image%202019-09-11%20at%201.2

The recirculating, open surface, low-speed water tunnel in the BIAH Research Lab has the test section of size 1.5 m x 0.4 m x 0.4 m. The maximum turbulence intensity is found below 2% for the operating speed between 0.05 - 0.25 m/s. This is suitable for a wide range of water tunnel experiments.

Our research lab has an Acoustic Doppler velocimeter of Sontek made that is used for measuring the velocity fluctuations in multi-axis.

Six-Axis Force-Torque Sensor

We use several multi-axis force-torque sensors to measure the real-time aerodynamic forces and moments during the water tunnel experiments.

Flapping Mechanism

An inhouse designed flapping mechanism is developed that has capabilities to perform various types of flapping kinematics including insect and bird flights.

Particle Image Velocimetry
